I encourage you who boldly take the name of Christ, my fellow Christian, to join me in worshiping God this morning at church. Help me show unbelievers that we care about meeting together by not leaving cobwebs in the pews this Sunday. You will spend only one, maybe two hours of your time honoring the Creator…although reading the following verse – it sounds like He is due a lot more! “Worthy are you, our Lord and God, to receive glory and honor and power, for you created all things, and by your will they existed and were created.” (Revelation 4:11)
How can you help stop the terror of ISIS? You can pray for their salvation. With Ramadan ending on June 25, you can especially pray for Muslims as they fast and pray, praying that they will have a vision of Jesus and follow Christ. Pastor Ibrahim from northern Iraq says about 80 percent of Christian converts from Islam have occurred after having a dream about Jesus (Muslims strongly believe in dreams and visions)*. While praying for an enemy can be a challenge, Jesus died and rose again to forgive every sin, including the horrendous acts committed by ISIS. John 3:16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son that whosoever believes in Him should not perish and have ever lasting life. Please pause now and pray for the salvation all Muslims, even the members of ISIS.

After hearing and seeing something over and over…and over and over, we may tend to pass over needs we know exist, thinking someone else will address the problem. Will you make an effort with me to not grow apathetic to the needs of Christians throughout the world? You can help a mother or child or preacher by taking a small amount of time to pray. Seriously? Yes. All members of the Adiquala church were arrested, this two month infant being among the twelve children in membership. Also, in Devinuwara there have been more than 190 attacks on churches since 2015. In West Java, Indonesia, three churches were closed after a crowd of about 200 Islamist and 50 local government officials and more gathered and preached Quranic teachings for three hours.
The dedication of these Christian believers is beyond me. They highly value meeting with other believers and learning about God’s word, as did Jesus. Jesus went to church regularly as shown in Luke 4:16. “And He came to Nazareth, where He had been brought up; and as was His custom, He entered the synagogue on the Sabbath, and stood up to read.” These believers are sacrificing and suffering because they take a stand in their personal and public life to gather for worship. I am humbled at the ease I have to worship and I hurt for my sisters and brothers who suffer. My sister’s infant is in jail because she took her family to church.

My spiritual life is changing as I practice praying scripture as I intercede for others and for myself, and if you’re looking for a spiritual face-lift, then I encourage you to try it. In my day to day life I see the Lord give wisdom unrelated to my prayers after which I often think to myself, “Well, yeah – that makes a lot of sense! It was right in front of my face, but I didn’t see it before!” Also, I am experiencing much joy; I can’t emphasize the warmth of joy I walk in each day that I pray in this manner. I look forward to sharing with you more about praying, including resources I find for praying scripture. Here is a great article on Biblegateway.com.
